About the Flying Tigers

Originally known as the Astros for nearly two decades, the franchise has undergone multiple changes since 2014.

The team changed its name to the Braves in 2015 and 2016 until rebranding as the RecWood Flying Pigs in 2017. The name was a combination of the Wood bar and Recreation Outlets, businesses which were owned by players on the team.  In 2019 the team changed the name yet again to Flying Tigers as it is known by today. The Flying Tigers is a tribute to heroic WW2 aviators.

The franchise can lay claim to back to back league championships in 1998 and 1999 as the Astros. Fomer Astros slugger Fred Breitling is the leagues all time homerun leader with 81. The 1999 Astros team set 3 league records. they scored 372 runs that season, averaged just under 13 runs per game and set the single game record with 35 runs in a game on August 22nd of that year. The franchise has recorded 390 wins since the 1999 season.

Between 1997 and 2012 the team won 20 or more games in 14 of those 16 seasons. The only years they didn't win 20 games in that stretch were in 2003 with 19 wins and 2010 with 17 wins!
